I was not brainwashed, nor given anything dangerous for Christmas. I am truly grateful for my luck ( Read more... )

[Your citizen is back to normal.]

You were one of the lucky ones then.

. . .

I could not find your killer. They left a note with a riddle on it, but I was too busy chasing down even more of my acquaintances to decipher it...

[GRIEF AND SHAME also he STILL hasn't gotten used to this whole resurrection thing, probably never will.]

....

[There is a pause...yes. He isn't going to get used to the whole resurrection thing. Death does not do that...he quickly manages to get himself together. Germany, second time someone freaked him. Both you.]

Oh, I'm sorry you had to see that.

No, I located him after I came back and we had a little talk. It seemed the town was controlling the both of us.

I've been in my share of battles. [We'll push aside the inner turmoil that immortality inspires when one never dies but sees people dying around week after week.]

...I had considered that possibility. I see.

[Dist recognizes him! So, obviously, this means they're friends now.]

I voted to go home. I know it's probably another wicked excuse for a "joke," but... any chance. Any chance. I need to get out of here.

[Germany never says no to more information or more friends] I haven't asked your name. Mine is Germany.

I'm called Dist.

Have I gotten you a copy of my letter yet, by the way? I want to distribute it as much as possible; I believe everyone can benefit from my insights. Your input was extremely valuable.

Well met, Dist.

Ah, I haven't seen it, but I've heard it helped some people; my "daughter" Liechtenstein was able to put some things together more easily with it, it seems. I'm glad my information could help.

...I voted. And I voted to go home. Though after what happened at Christmas, I have a feeling that they'll twist our wishes around no matter what our choices are.

At least this particular choice is being directly asked of us by one person who openly acknowledges our wish to escape, or so it would seem...

May I ask your name? I am Germany. [Since we've corresponded once or twice..]

Yes, it does seem that way. Though I can't help but feel that those who chose to stay will be affected as well...

Ah, my name is Lion. Ushiromiya Lion. Pleased to meet you. To whom am I speaking?

I'll keep an eye on her. She's pretty friendly, though, isn't she?

German shepherds are very loyal to humans, so it makes sense that she bond to everyone in the house fairly easily. [PAPA IS GLOWING]

Did you fair all right during Christmas, Kallen?

Somehow, nothing bad happened to me. Guess I got lucky.

[Xandra has done her best to stay out of the way of her "owners", except for laying claim to and modifying a few dresses, sleeping curled up on the couch, and making her own meals. However, she'll have to run into someone eventually, and she unintentionally slept in this morning, which means that instead of waking up insanely early and leaving the house before anyone else is up, she's in the kitchen making breakfast when Germany comes in.]

[Germany's known of her presence in the house, thanks to photos on the wall changing and all, but with Christmas chaos and the like it's been rather difficult to find the right time to introduce himself properly. He knows that "pets" aren't what Mayfield wants them to be..

She must get out insanely early indeed, with Germany's early morning training exercises in the park-- he hesitates when happening upon the chipmunk-eared girl. With green fur.]

...G-Guten Morgen. [Well, at least she's more human-like than Sonic, that hedgehog creature..]

[Being quasi-nocturnal helps with the getting up early. ]

Good morning.

[Yes, green. Green splatter-painted with white, and speckled is not the most expensive paint brush, but Xandra likes it better than any others and so she's speckled and it's a nice colour and not cheap or ugly.

She has a vaguely British accent, and is old enough to talk about "more years ago than I care to think about" and "it's rude to ask a spellcaster her age".]

How are you?

I am well.

[Blinks, trying to decide where to let his eyes rest. There's a lot to take in right now, here. Okay. Nothing to worry about! She sounds perfectly sociable so far, with those five words.]

It's been some time since you came to this house, hasn't it? I hope it's worked out all right for you.. [He doesn't mind the fact she kept to herself; indeed, that's a pasttime of his.

He was thinking mostly about all the other, er, real pets around the house. A soft-shelled turtle, and two small dogs... What if they didn't get along?!

He's not sure why he should be concerned on that point, but it seemed right. S-seemed.]
