The Doctor had exited the TARDIS in search of more information. He'd already learnt from one of his future selves that none of the TARDISes worked, but he still needed details. Somehow, some way there had to be a way to reverse this ( Read more... )

"Doctor!"

Oh, she hoped it was him. So far, it seemed everyone she thought she knew hadn't been who she thought. But hope seized Sarah Jane again when she noticed a familiar head of white hair.

"Oh, Doctor! Is it you?"

"I think all of your incarnations are perfectly tolerable," Sarah Jane answered cheerfully, giving him a look. "Haven't met when I don't like yet."

"Then you're doing better than me. Some of my other incarnations are just obnoxious.

She laughs. "Like which, Doctor?"

"The Second comes to mind. And I can't say I was ever fond of Teeth and Curls." Even if Sarah was.

"I've never met your second self," Sarah answers.

But then she frowns and shakes her head. Not fond of his next self? Why ever not? ...oh.

Griiiin.

"You're not jealous, are you?"

"Who me? Of myself? Nonsense?" Not that he's in denial or anything.

"So are you leaving right now, or do you have time for a cup of tea?"

"I have time."

Sarah grins brightly at him, if not smugly. Were he to ask, she'd completely accuse him of honestly being jealous. "Research can wait a bit. That computer isn't going anywhere and I don't think your other self is either."

"You never can tell. I can be a hard man to keep track of." Not that it was difficult around here. Walk two steps and you were likely to trip over another of his incarnations.

"Please don't say that," she says quietly, suddenly falling somber. "It's been hard enough losing one of you."

The Doctor reached over and hugged her. "Not leaving. It's not as if I could at the moment."

She hugs him back, enjoying the coolness of his body and the surprising warmth it still provides. Sarah Jane doesn't say a word, though. She only closes her eyes and holds on to him tightly.

The Doctor isn't inclined to let go, either, so he buries his face in her hair and pulls her as close as he can.

It's a very nice feeling. She closes her eyes, enjoying the moment. And when she sighs, it's a surprisingly content sigh.

She's purring...no that's cats. Sighing, then. He can feel her warm breath on his skin and suddenly hopes his later incarnation doesn't show up suddenly.
