It makes sense to me - but then, maybe I've been nibbling bits of your brain when you're not looking.
Vivid, heartbreaking, and the quotes that go with it fit perfectly.

Thanks! - glad there's room in the brain for others, then; and very happy to hear that it makes any sense at all!

I think I followed it. A fascinating variation on the fanon that Time Lords don't reproduce manually.

Thanks - I'm still not sure what my exact take on the theory is (which I cleverly conceal by elaborate and nonspecific prose, you see ... ) But I'm happy to hear that it's follow-able to any degree.

really interesting and interstingly written as well, which is often better. i think this is one of those stories that you want to read again and again and keep understanding a bit more. so - i hope you write more :)

Oh, ouch.
Achingly beautiful with the music of almost was and might-have-been.

First line- "What about the children, Vilhelm, who do not want to be loved?" is from Winter's Tales by Isak Dinesen. Pen name of Baroness Karen von Blixen-Finecke, best known for her books Out of Africa and Babette's Feast.

Also quoted in the opening of Labrador by Kathryn Davis.
I recognized the quote, but it takes google to make me look brilliant.

AHA! Thank you! It was Labrador that I read it in - I know I used to own that book, but it's disappeared from the shelves ... My Google-skills (and attention span for that sort of thing) are a bit lacking, but it was absolutely driving me spare.

And thanks so much for reading!
