Standing in front of the mirror, Thom kept wetting the comb and trying to brush down the stubborn little lock of hair that just would not lay flat no matter how hard he tried.

"It's not my fault you're out of hair gel!" He shot back, peeved as the lock flipped back up. "It might as well be giving me the bird."

Sighing, Thom set down the comb and brushed at his new suit.

"I still don't know if I like this suit, maybe I should chan..." he began when Francois called out that the cab had arrived. "Crap!"

Throwing his hands in the air, he exited the bathroom.

"If I should have worn a tie and you talked me into this ... priest wanna be cassock thing I'm going to kick you in the shin."

"Actually, it is your fault I'm out of hair gel," he shot back good naturedly. "You used the last of it and didn't tell me until it was too late for me to do anything about it."

Swinging the door open, he swept his arm in a gesture for Thom to go out ahead of him, largely to prevent him from trying to go back for something. "Look at me. Am I wearing a tie? No, I'm not. I told you, it's not that formal. Stop fussing. Marlena will adore you."

"It is your fault, you made me self conscious about this damn lock of hair," pointing!

Which of course just made the lock cow lick up that much more. However, rather than give in to the urge to peer in the nearest reflective surface, Thom turned and smiled sweetly at Francois.

"Yes but you're short, you can get away with not wearing a tie."

...

Running now!

He smirked and shook his head. "I merely pointed it out. It's not as though you couldn't see it every day anyway."

He locked the door behind him and started down the stairs at a more sedate pace. "If you mean I wear my clothes well, I'm not going to argue with you about that," he said lazily. One thing he had never been and likely never would be was self-conscious about his looks, height and all.
