SUMMARY: It's just another evening out on the town for Francois and Thom until Francois hears some unexpected news.

Francois stood near the window overlooking the street with his arms loosely folded. The cab was due any minute, and Thom was still fussing around in the bathroom. "If you keep messing with it, one of these days it's going to fall out," he called to him in French, the language he nearly always spoke with him when it was just the two of them. "You look fine."

He was looking forward to the gallery show, the artist in question a local friend of his. The show was a big step for her and could easily lead to bigger and better things. He intended to buy one of the smaller sculptures as an accent piece, his apartment fairly spartan overall because he was very selective about what to put in it. The cab swung around the corner and pulled up to the curb. "It's here!" he called again.
