Marisa's wasn't one for getting stagefright, but she wasn't exactly prepared for this. Mr. D. had sprung it on them and she had needed to retreat to the bathroom to talk herself into it. It wasn't that she had a bad voice, because she didn't - she was in chorus back at school - but she was worried what everyone would think. What if she messed up? What would it do to her image back at Reims.

Needless to say, Marisa was spending an awful lot of time backstage staring at herself in the mirror provided.

Shit, that didn't sound nearly as confident as she meant it to. Quickly, Marisa ran her hands through her hair and exited, really hoping she didn't look even remotely as nervous as she felt.

[Earlier in the night:]

Shin was trying his best to BS his way into various venues on sixth street, dodging drunken UT fratboys, aggressive drag rats and ACL tourists even more clueless than him. He'd been turned away at a goth club (Aw, who cares, they looked pretty mopey in there, he thought) and was currently trying to sneak his way through the que at The Beauty Bar. If this failed, he'd try someplace else, or follow the rumors of a party on the bridge. Hipster girls who really should have known better were taking an interest in him, it seemed, from their whispered comments and looks.

[Later in the night:]

Shin was happily engaged with a bunch of hippies, ravers and hipsters as they burned an effigy, with little regard for fire safety regulations.
