Avatar - Visual Emphasis

Given the event I'm attempting to write, I was bound to shoot myself in the foot sooner or later.

Basically, The Unveiling was supposed to occur on the same day as this part (taking place after these events, actually), but I separated it in order to submit it to theavatar100. The problem is that it was based on the plan I originally had, and that plan got ( Read more... )

Though it's damning as anything...I think I'd vote for this girl. And then switch countries planets.

*snerk!* At least by voting for her, you'd be on her slightly better side long enough to escape? (Everything can be justified. Everything.)

I think with Azula being on her good side is secondary to being out of shooting range.

You know you're setting me up for a big disappointment with the canon Azula characterization? Q__Q

Seriously, if the actual Azula turns out to be even half as interesting as yours, I'd be happy.

*snicker* Thank you!

(Considering that one of the nicknames for this chapter was 'How Azula Won Everything,' it's probably better for the sake of Iroh and the world for Mike and Brian to take a different approach.)

Ah, Ozai, be careful what lessons your children have learned, and the example you have set...

She's 15 years old and freakishly clever. Are there any mistakes this girl has made? (Besides, maybe, allowing Iroh to live? Oh yes, and good that she has her eye on Long Feng. And Zuko - so clever of him to acknowledge the tea patron first, at least somewhat disarming)

*snicker* Oh, that's the next part.

Letting Iroh live is the main one, since her reasoning could be avoided simply by making it look like he died in an earthbending incident and claiming it was self-defense on the agents' parts--but considering that they captured him alive after he dropped his guard once Aang and Katara escaped, she probably does have some plan for him (insurance, most likely, or because she's afraid of being accused of treading too far on Ozai's power in case he found out the truth).

But there's also the fact that she really should have been sending the bulk of the soldiers out of the city the previous two days, under some pretense or another--but I hadn't thought things out as extensively then, so that's more a mistake on my part than hers. *sheepish grin*

Thank you!

Oh hell, I know what you mean. You get your "hero" into a corner that, honestly, you can't yourself see a way out of, and you're more than half in love with the villian anyway!

All I can say is that I never dug as deep a hole for my good guys as you've done for yours. Which, of course, makes it that much harder to figure out a way out of without then making your villian look suddenly like an idiot.

Azula's weak spots, as I see them? Her trust in Mai and Ty Lee. Zuko (we've been there, done that, along with Iroh who is just enough more awesome than Azula to prevail with assistance). And I still think Long Feng will come out a surprising hero in the end. Of course, for all the wrong reasons.

I do love this story. You rock for all the right reasons. (Really, who expects a fuckin' 15 year-old to have all the angles figured out? My elderly wisdom is highly offended - which may explain in part my dependence on Iroh!)

*snicker* I think the depth of the hole is based partially on how I'm interpreting Zuko's actions (which has changed over the last week, which . . . kinda plays merry hell with some earlier stuff. one day I will learn not to post multi-parters before they're finished, because this always happens). He can overcome them easily, but only by making a specific choice ( ... )

... how the hell am I supposed to write anything for you without feeling insignificant when you keep on pumping out stuff like this? You have so much of a handle on these characters- and the politics- and the plotting- and the random details like how that one lieutenant general kneels, of all things... when all I want to write about is how all Earthbenders get seasick on boats because most of them have never stood anywhere where they couldn't feel the ground under their feet and ships disorient them. Yeah. You can see where the inferiority complex comes in.

Anyway, this series has always been and is continuing to be made of awesome. I'm so glad you're one of those people who actually finishes series, or else I'd be crying because I want to see the end and know that I probably won't.

I owe pretty much everything involving the politics to a friend of mine, who's studied much more history and anthropology than me, so I cheated I swear. *grin*

(But--Azula mocking or taking advantage of a disoriented Long Feng! That'll be great. Please?)

Thank you! *grin* I'm really glad you like it.

I may end up doing less on the politics and more on the interaction since I can't do politics worth beans, but Azula mocking Long Feng will definitely be in there. It might be okay. Just not political genius, and I'll probably glaze over just how things in Ba Sing Se got stable enough that Azula could afford to leave. Or I might just write, 'To see how Azula kicked ass and took names, see 'reimars.'' Heh.
