So it has come to this

I hadn't updated in a long time because, like I always say, there's nothing worth updating. However, the cold, how she has wrapped me into her distracting embrace, making everything I do tainted by the desire to blow my nose or swallow (you always want to swallow so much more when your throat is sore) or hack up phlegm (a new feature). But wait! ( Read more... )

I think you need to stop going to work when you're sick. You're probably getting secondary infections from not resting enough and being around a bunch of germy kids while your immune system's already depressed. But that's just me.

Hey, I wish I could call out every time I had a stuffy nose or I started to get that familiar tingle in my throat, but I don't think it's realistic, nor do they really allot me the kind of sick time for that. Besides, just from a biologically stand point I really don't know when my system is most depressed (Friday night I would have told you that I was feeling better) and I never know what those kids are going to start passing around. I avoided the norovirus completely, but it looks like I've gotten caught up in the cold-leading to pink eye storm seemingly 4 other children in the past few days.

I hate to sound like I'm defending working while sick, it's just that I guess I have this definition of what "too sick to work" looks like and stuffy noses and sore throats don't cut it.

Also- the thing that's always kinda of hanging over our heads in EYC- Universal Precautions. I always think there's some spector hanging around, waiting to tell everyone I only got sick because I don't wash my hands enough.

I didn't mean to sound like I was telling you what to do. I know sick time is hard to come by. My mom hasn't taken a sick day in like 10 years (not that she doesn't have them available, she just has Stockholm Syndrome).

If only you could get your hands on some Japanese cold medicine. That shit is amazing.

Your mom sounds sort of like me in high school and college, except I was just always afraid I would miss when they revealed the meaning of the universe or something.
