There was something amiss, something different, but lacking anything like a conclusion, he settled fisting his hand; the sand eye crumbled, grains drifting gradually back to the gourd on his back.
It had less to travel when, following the seal shaped by his fingers, the sand moved, and within the instant he no longer perched in the tree but stood some feet from her, arms crossed.]

[The monkey laughed behind her. He was circling Gaara, even if nobody could feel him but her. They were connected to a level Youko didn't understand.
"Tsk. What else could he want, missy?" he mocked at her obvious question. Her grip on the gold hilt tightened. "What does anybody want? You have no allies or friends. Don't forget you are alone in this world, silly girl."
Youko tried to not be distracted by the monkey's presence and kept her gaze on the boy. Was he around her age? Was he human or a demon like her?]
