So I was flipping through my flist, checking out what everyone else has been up to since I've been posting podfic but really not commenting on anyone else's posts, and I noticed that
pprfaith is having a family-related bad day. And I think she's awesome, and doesn't deserve family-related bad things - I've been through several years' worth of similar situations, and the divorce hasn't actually stopped them from happening - so, podfic to make it better!
I've been sitting on this one since mid-January - well, I've been sitting on the audio, but the cover took me a bit longer - so it is my pleasure to share with you, ladies and gentlefolk and
pprfaith in particular, a podfic about vampires and werewolves and mutants, oh my.
Bright Nights (Kittens, Children, and no Rubber Ducks), written by the inestimable
pprfaith (because what better way to cheer you up than with a cheery podfic of your own cheery story? Seriously, if you get even half the glee from listening to me Podfic All Your Fic as I get from recording them all, I think my job's well done), is the third part of the
Rubber Duck Verse (quick recap - Southern Vampire Mysteries meets X-Men First class, because "one of them is called Erik and the other is a telepath." ). Featuring such magnificent things as baby telepaths, frustrated vampires, shoe collections, teenage boys promising to make out in cars, and werekittens, Bright Nights follows wonderfully in the footsteps of the two previous stories in this series. Plus, coverart in the stye of True Blood promotional posters!
The Intro/Outro music for this podfic is
Bones, performed by Little Big Town (off the Season One True Blood Soundtrack). The lyrics for this one don't quite fit the story as well as the previous song/podfic collaborations in the series. but I thought the jaunty tune fit the mood of this story very nicely.
Running about 40 minutes long, you can download this podfic as an mp3
over here (thank you,
paraka, for hosting me!), or you can click below to stream the story:
Happy listening, folks, and
pprfaith, I hope this makes you feel at least a little bit better about all the crappy things. Plus, I'm going to use this podfic as a fill for the "podfic a friend's fic" fill on my
podfic_bingo card!
