Dahlia's twin boys (born last Thursday) are doing just fine! We still haven't decided on names yet, though. The reverse badger boy is actually tri-colored. That brown is there to stay.

I took these photos on Saturday in the hope of getting my website updated this week. The cruddy resolution is because I optimistically took my iPad rather than my camera outside, and then the three kids wouldn't let me near them. Simon had the opposite problem, and pronounced my iPad cover to be nibble-able, but not really nom-licious.

A week and a half ago, I split up the four big kids from their mothers, and put the kids together in the back-right field, sharing the divided right barn stall. Ever since I finally picked up a championship ribbon for my goats, I've been looking at what I can make/get using Ari as a sire for the next generation of GCF goats. The last year, I got only Diego and Viola, which didn't give me much indication of Ari's true genetic character, but did give me some clues that he was not passing a strong color gene ( Read more... )

The vet came out this afternoon to deal with Hope-goat's broken left horn. We were expecting to have to break the rest of it off and cauterize the wound in a late disbudding action. I was all balled up and nervous about a screaming and traumatized baby goat ( Read more... )
