Hercules hit his alarm six times this morning during chores. None of the goats mustered for the defense, and even the dog blew him off.

I found out on Saturday morning why Hercules had called battle stations last week. We have a new roaming dog in the neighborhood. He is a sweet, young hound dog that is about the same height as Cleo and about 2/3 her weight. For lack of a known name, I'm calling him Buddy. I forgot to mention - Hercules and Jessie's team were in fighting formation when I walked out there yesterday. Anna, Fiona, and Lily were in that pasture at the time, so the flying wedge had a full cadre of adults in it. This morning brought with it another bear visit. The front trash was strewn across the walkway and some of it was missing. The pole for the bird feeder was down and the feeder was missing. Did the fecal analysis for Hercules turn up anything interesting? He is acting ok, but ( cut for gross )

Today was CD&T and rabies-shot day. Everyone looks pretty good. Deworming should happen soon, but no big deal. Sancho is getting old, but doing fine. Loki and Jessie may not outlive him, but they are both fat enough to make it for a while longer. And for all her small size, Soma is doing just fine. It's been pretty darn cold lately. It was another 8-degree morning today. I'm very glad that almost everyone has at least one bucket that doesn't freeze. And the baby boys don't seem to mind the personalized delivery of warm water.
