Here's a portion of visual whimsy from me, albeit on a fairly unseasonal subject.

This Guardian article about reading on holiday introduced me to a charming quote from Theodor Adorno's Minima Moralia (no, I haven't read it either). But instead of just requoting it, I decided to combine it with a pictorial tribute to one of my fave illustrators, ( Read more... )

Yes! yes! yes! Slippers need more recognition as quiet providers of comfort and warmth :D

Also I was one of those with a womble obsessed childhood so that was the first place my brain went to. I had a talking Orinoco until my brother decided to perforn surgery on him to see how he worked . . .

I had a collection of little plastic Womble figurine thingies, but I kept chewing on their hats and most of the paint came off...

When I was living with flatmates a few years ago, another friend once told us that she'd never met a household so obsessed with comfortable nightwear.

I chose to view this as a compliment.

Also - slippers for comfort, slippers for slippering statues of fallen leaders. They're just SO adaptable.

Slippers are indeed worthy of a monument, but since someone's been there and done that already, perhaps I'll have to build a monument to socks instead.
