Dragonlords a-leaping

Polish your vambraces, practise your mystic muttering and make sure you've had your five anachronistic vegetables of the day, because it's the season finale of Merlin.

Here are some thoughts on The Last Dragonlord... )

I am actually really sad that Sir Leon is dead. Good-looking speaking-part person down, and no Lancelot in sight! Boo!

Boo also to the episode. I thought it was quite dull, apart from a few very cute facial expressions from Merlin (the bit where he hesitated for ages before saying "sleep well, father"!) and a bit of cute not-really-friends banter from Merlin and Arthur. But I must say I am heartily sick of them tiptoeing around the big revelation. I mean, "I care a hell of a lot about that armour", come on. ;)

I shall be watching next year anyway, but I must say I am losing interest more and more. Not in your posts though, which are always hilarious. :)

They can't have too many good-looking blokes in the background, it seems. It's probably in Arthur's contract that none of his knights should detract attention from his own loveliness.

I am still enjoying it, but I do wish they'd get on with some PLOT once in a while. How hard can it be? Harder than trudging past the same five trees every week, apparently...

BTW, did you see that DT episode of Never Mind The Buzzcocks? I larfed and larfed and larfed.

I did indeed. Catherine Tate's drunken overexcitement was hilarious, and then a bit annoying, and then hilarious again.

Thank you for the Christmas prezzie, btw - it arrived yesterday!

I would never have noticed those bulbous mountains to the left if you hadn't pointed them out. (The crop top was awfully distracting.)

I got 'Kilgariff' as the Slashdragon's name, which I believe is a place in Ireland?

I was in fact trying to screencap the crop top and ended up capturing the hilly scenery entirely by accident. Like many spectacular views, it was a case of once seen, hard to ignore.

The jury is still out on the dragon's name. Someone on Wikipedia has added it as "Kilgharrah" but I won't believe it until I get better documentation, hem hem.

Yes, the pick-a-knight scene didn't leave a lot of room for opting out. Maybe Arthur should have told Uther he'd be left with only one knight (on duty, at least) and was there one he was particularly fond of? And then all the others could have squabbled and bitched with each other about the fact that Uther liked them MORE.

I have to admit i had tears in my eyes watching this. I am suffering from a cold and so i'm feeling sorry for myself. But this meant i could have a good sob at the "night, son", "night, father" scene. As soon as the parentage connection was revealed i gave Balinor the "wave of death" (which is a little wave i do for characters that are about to die) And then I blubbed some more when he did die. Merlin's lickle fayce!

Nice to see that Arthur got his top off more than once in this ep. And "yay" to you for showing the magnificent landscape of a recumbent Arthur. I should watch these programmes with the sound off so I see more of this kind of thing.

Did you get the symbology of the nights clustered a"Round" Arthur in a circle?

I didn't get the round table thing, no! Probably because Arthur's a little too bumpy to be a table, as I believe that screencap proves.

I also now realize that a more obvious caption for that pic would have been "Is that Excalibur in your pyjamas, or are you just pleased to see me?"

I'm going to start by saying god bless you and your review/observations cause this didn't half make me giggle an insane amount!

Merlin's wide range of heartbreaking facial expressions

God yes, Colin really must stop that doing that dammit as my poor heart just can't keep breaking!

Arthur's love of semi-nudity combined with his propensity to fall unconscious just when there's important plot exposition going on.

Hahaha..THIS.

I must also point out that Arthur's love of semi-nudity is greatly appreciated by many of us!

Aww, glad you were amused. I do sometimes feel like a lecherous old lady when I point out the gratuitous shirtless moments, but comments such as yours help me to believe that it counts as a public service, and I should therefore keep doing it...
