"Looks just like the sun..."

Things have generally been going better for me lately.  I still have my ups and (break)downs now and again, but how can I stay down all the time when about 25 friends have done everything in their power to not let me stay that way?  I’ve ( Read more... )

In thought, I'm there... anniabroad April 18 2004, 12:59:01 UTC
I would be, but you know my deal as well. take some pics and post them for me. i should be posting my recent Kiel pics either this week, or at the latest, the week after that. it was really nice. thanks for the time, glad you could be my purse-holding driving companion and put up with my "let's stop here and get out, no wait, here, no wait, let's get falafel". that was rad.
Cheers!

I know, I know...
I'm really glad we got to hang out -I think some of the conversations we had were exactly what I needed. Let me know when you post your pics, and you know I'm always up for being your purse-holding driving companion who will always gladly put up with your "let's stop here and get out, no wait, here, no wait, let's get falafel"-ness. It totally was rad, wasn't it? Gute Fahrt!

I would love to go biking with you. I promise to go buy myself a bike soon (I've only been saying that for two years) and bike with you in spirit.

It might be easier to bike with broken toes than walk. Hey...you know Annika (who responded right above) just broke some toes as well...weird, eh?

Go out and buy a bike for real now, ok? And make sure you buy multiple locks and yeah...don't donate it to anyone. :P

I hope Annika feels better soon. I hope she was at least doing something interesting or worthwhile when she broke hers. I get hurt all the time, but I rarely have a good story to go with it.

As for the bike...

I can't decide what I want. Can you decide for me? (It seems that buying a bike has become a complicated process). I'm not that worried about it being stolen. When I'm not riding it, it'll probably be in my van or in my basement.

Well...what are you looking for? A racing bike? A mountain bike? A hybrid?

Hm. I think I'm in. :)
I did not know the S-H ticket can be used by more than one person...how convenient! Oh, and please do not ask me to suggest some places to see - I have no idea...and I've been living here for 11 years now...

S-H suggestions anniabroad April 18 2004, 16:55:20 UTC
Okay, if you have a S-H ticket, you had better head first and foremost to Schleswig to see the Moorleichen in the Wikinger Museum. i seriously have to go there at least once a year. it's amazing. the museum is home to the larget intact Wikinger ship as well. and the Moorleiche-frau still has hair. it's crazy, crazy-cool i mean.

Definitely also head off to the North Sea coast and check out all the little fisherman towns that are so charming. try Husum. Be wild , extravagant, and go to the island of Sylt. Skip Westerland on Sylt coz that's where the wealthy and lame-o hang out to eat their lobster and shrimp.

Ratzeburg is a very nice town as well! but it's further than Lübeck, i don't know how far u are planning on going.

If you want it to just be a short day or half day trip, take the train to Plön (REALLY not for from Kiel). there are lovely small lakes there to walk along and picknick, and it's really nice during the Spring. sometimes they have small festivals at the castle/palace place-turned-Internat.

hope that helps.

Wow! Thank you! We'll be busy for a week at least! And I realise I've never been to Sylt - I wanna go! Thanks again!

I went to Schleswig not too long ago, but didn't get to Haitabu. :( So...I definitely have to go again.

Where would you suggest we go on Sylt?

I'll definitely check out Ratzeburg as well...I don't want to restrict myself to S-H...I figure (depending on money of course) Fridays I'll go within S-H, but Saturdays (or Sundays) I'd go some place in Niedersachsen or Thuringia even? Maybe I'll even take a weekend trip far down South sometime? But by all means Ratzeburg is within my reach.

And I've been meaning to go to Plön for a while as well. Can you bike around the lakes there? I mean...are there paths along the banks?

And thanks for these suggestions!

I love your song.

Wow thanks! I have a few more on my website, although those recordings are just as bad. Once I get back to the states, I plan on buying a decent microphone and really recording some stuff well...you know -at least so that it's listenable, you know?

Don't be offended when I compare you to a less whiny dashboard confessional.

Uhhh... ... I'll umm try not to be. (grumblegrumble.)

:P
