Boxing day Friday
Christmas was good here. Not fantastic, but certainly not bad. A solid B.My best "presents" were things that others did for me. On C-Eve, SIL took care of dinner. We had make-your-own Gyros and hot ham sandwiches, a giant salad, and about 400 kinds of desserts (dozens of cookies (from home made to purchased, 3 different yule-log jelly-roll cakes,

Yay for a good Christmas! We saw The Imitation Game too, on Christmas Day. Marvelous movie. The theater we went to is close to a big Jewish neighborhood, and the place was packed. My dad overheard a woman in the lobby, whom he'd already guessed from her appearance was Jewish, calling out to someone, "The Weinsteins are already here!" putting the icing on the cake. Too funny. Then we went next door to eat at the Thai restaurant which was also doing brisk business. Service was slow, but our waiter was very good, chipper and noticing when we still hadn't been served in a long time. He brought us a free plate of dumplings to make up for it.
Yesterday I had to work, 8.5 hours in fact, and it was pretty busy. It seemed busier than usual because one of our coworkers called off sick, so it was just the two of us all day. (And an interesting surprise for me, finding a children's librarian covering at our desk when I arrived) During our lunch breaks it got downright annoying that the phone kept ringing while I was in the middle of a patron ( ... )
