It did sound a bit smug, yeah, but as long as you aren't one of this idiots with the SUVs that think they're God in a car and think they're invincible on the roads, then you're ok. I swear, it's always the SUVs off on the side of the road; hardly ever the small ones (unless they got hit).
The car is a sore subject for my anyway. Why my mother would not fix up the awesome '99 Saab 95 we had (it was a TANK in the winter), trade it in for a bloody two-door Honda Coupe (it was cheap and she keeps claiming she's low on money), and refuse to get winter tires for it in one of the worst winters we've had in a long time all the while as she goes out and buys skis and takes tons of time off to go on trips?! *rolls eyes* Whatever.

Sorry. And I'd love that Earl Grey. *takes tea* Mmm, thank you. Bloody winter.
I'm not. The Idiot SUV Drivers on the side of the road are the ones who think that 4 wheel drive will save them on ice. It won't.
I might be able to clear up the Saab issue, at least a little bit. An 12 year old Saab would cost a fortune to maintain or repair. As great a car as Saabs are, they aren't for the budget-conscious, even if they're paid off.
I can't help with the bad tires on the Honda. You can do great with a front wheel drive car in the snow, but you've gotta have good tires.
Oh good, I'm glad you aren't one of the stupid people. :)
Yeah, she got rid of the Saab because the heat was essentially dead in it. Was still fixable though...for the right price. I'm still bitter about it though...for many reasons that just aren't worth mentioning now.
I loved that car though.... *sniff*
Winter tires...yup, something you really need to have installed. But she's decided to go without them and I just hold on dearly for my life or drive slowly in second gear.
Well, we do. We tolerate the weather and lots of snow...but when you've got four foot high snow banks everywhere, no plowed sidewalks, barely plowed roads, and a bloody two-door Honda Coupe with no winter tires then it gets to be a little hairy coming in.
And, let me tell you, Miss High Horse, let's see you drive in freezing weather with a crap car on slush/snow/black ice. Hmm?
We keep getting pounded with snow, I think of the next seven days we'll have at least some snow for five of them, and we're at the point where the city has no idea where to put the stuff!
I like the snow, I really do, just not driving in it with buses and trucks attacking you. Or white outs. Or stupid people (but we can't get rid of them, now can we? Sigh).
Oh man that is going to be my commute tomorrow when I head to class. We are suppose to get more snow overnight my friend in Colorado is dealing with it now. Maybe I will just stay home from class and not do anything at all. Sorry it was such a bad drive for you and I am glad you got there semi-safely.
It's days like these where all you want to do is go back home once you get into work....until you realize what sort of hellish ride you had coming in. Yuck.
Obviously, for bas_math_girl's sake, I need to post pictures of the snow banks. She doesn't quite get it, it appears.
Maybe not so go for, post some pics but I think she did just have a hellish snow storm in Britian recently. I will have to send some of my sunlight to you. I am going to enjoy it while I can because it won't be here long.
Oh good heavens - I'm so glad you got to work just fine. That sounds completely awful and I don't blame you for wanting to go home (I would be terrified and would probably consider sleeping at work to not drive in it).
Stay warm and safe and I am convinced that you would be laughing hysterically at my city for the past week and a half...
It was one of those regular, wintery, interesting rides in to work. I wish I could just call in but I live the closest and I doubt it would work over well with my boss and co-workers. Plus, my mom works at the hospital, which never closes obviously, and needs to take care of the crazies (she's on the voluntary psychiatric ward as a Case Manager/Social Worker), and we carpool in. I'm shit out of luck when it comes to winter excuses for not getting in to work.
Thanks, I'll do my best at staying warm, although I've misplaced my neck warmer and my neck can get horribly cold.
(Yes, I probably would be laughing at your city for the past few weeks, and probably now as well, but I'll let it slide, for now...)

That sounded more smug that intended. Sorry about that. How 'bout some Earl Grey? *Offers*

But, yeah, people driving well is pretty much a lost prayer at this point.

And yeah, looks like excuses would help - I hate that.
