Room 407, Friday afternoon-evening-night

Jan 04, 2008 15:28

Sky felt exhausted after leaving the welcoming picnic, even though he hadn't really done much. Admittedly, he wasn't keen on the idea of having an overenthusiastic turtle for a roommate, but Mikey, with his happiness and exuberance, in a way reminded him of Bridge, so that was a little consolation. Some of his fears that he wouldn't fit in at ( Read more... )

Eventually Triela would explore every floor of the dorms, but today she was just working on the floor she lived on. Open doors, she knew, usually meant that someone was in and that they were interested in a visit, so she stuck her head in and looked around.

Sky glanced up at the young woman who'd just posted in, then paused in the middle of unpacking his books and went over to her, standing at attention and putting on a small smile, offering a hand to shake.

"Good afternoon, miss. I'm Sky Tate."

"So formal," she grinned at him. "In that case," she drew herself up with military precision, "I am Triela." She relaxed the ridiculous stance and held out her hand and explained, "I'm on this floor."

Sky quirked an eyebrow, a little surprised.

"Ah, yeah. I come from a police academy," he explained. "It's nice to meet you, Triella." He shook the offered hand. "I'm a new student; I just arrived here today."

Jenny was prowling her floor for newbies when she happened to glance into one of the rooms to find, not only a newbie, but a newbie who appeared at first blush to be quite physically attractive as well. This, she thought, was an added bonus, so she paused in his doorway to check him out.

Even if Sky wasn't looking at her, the miasma of tobacco smoke that accompanied Jenny Sparks should give the game away.

Two young women now standing in his door way. Sky winced inwardly; were he and Mikey the only men on this floor? He acknowledged Jenny with a nod and another small smile, wrinkling his nose a little at her odor.

"Miss. I'm Sky Tate."

"No, not miss," said Jenny. "Miss suggests a modicum of propriety, which I laugh in the face of. I'm Jenny Sparks; I live down the hall in 401."

She did do him the courtesy of putting out her current cigarette in the saucer she carried for just such occasions, though.

Sky's mouth fell open a little, as he wasn't used to being addressed in such a manner, but he swallowed a curt retort and nodded. He'd had it emphasized to him multiple times that outside of S.P.D., not everybody behaved with, as his superiors put it, "anal-retentive courtesy", so he should try to not be snippy with anybody at Fandom. Otherwise, he'd end up with half the people there afraid of or hating him, just like at S.P.D.

"Ok, then, Jenny. It's nice to meet you. I'm a new arrival here, I just got here this morning."

Not seeing his little brother at the picnic, Teddy headed to the dorms for some searching.

And was pleasantly surprised to find the guy on his floor.

He knocked lightly on the door. "Hello?"

Sky looked up at Teddy now, pasting that small smile on his face.

"Hi there. Come on in and join the little party here. I'm Sky Tate, just moved here this morning."

Teddy smiled back, wide and genuine. "Oh, thank god. I was worried I'd have to keep looking around the dorms for you." He put a hand out. "I'm Teddy, you're older brother. Kinda."

Sky immediately brightened, shaking the offered hand.

"Ah, yeah, I was hoping you'd be by," he said. "I'm Sky, I'm sure you already know. I was told to look out for you before I arrived this morning, but I didn't see you at the picnic."

Sky looked up at Adam, then stopped short, staring. He immediately realized what he was doing and stood erect, wiping his brow.

"Sorry," he apologized. "I didn't mean to stare. For some reason I feel like I should already know you... I don't know why." He stepped over and offered a hand to shake. "Sky Tate. I just moved in this morning."

"Nice to meet you, too, Adam." Sky glanced up and down the hallway. "I wasn't thrilled about coming here at first, but there are some really nice people here, so it could be worse, I guess. I think I can even grow to like having a giant turtle for a roommate."

Troy -- unlike last night -- wasn't avoiding his room, he just happened to be on his way back from a run. ... Which he'd been on because he was avoiding his room. Still, he'd decided to take a quick glance through the floor and see if there seemed to be any interesting newbies to meet, and so he knocked on the door frame and leaned around it. "Hey," he said. "You're new, right?"

Almost done with his unpacking now, Sky moved forward to greet the person standing at the door. So many new people here to meet- he didn't remember it being like this at either of the S.P.D. Academies, where he was used to being assigned to one squad and only knowing their names.

"Yeah, I just moved in this morning," he said, offering a hand to shake. "My name's Sky Tate. And you're...?"

"Troy Bolton, I live down the hall," Troy answered, taking the proffered hand and shaking it. "Welcome to Fandom. Settling in okay?"

"Good to meet you, Troy," Sky replied, then stood at attention. "Well, besides the... crazy stories about gremlins and magic plagues, I think I'm doing alright, thank you. I wasn't too happy to be here when I arrived, to be honest, but I've made a few friends, too, so hasn't been all that bad."
