I liked the Blood series well enough, but I think she's gotten better since then. Also, they have more of a horror slant, and I'm not so much a reader of horror ( ... )

Ah. All I know about current TV is what I hear on the internet. I don't have cable (or any television since they went digital) at home. I get DVDs for the stuff I really want to see.

Not sure how much it's to my taste, but the library has some of the Dexter books- I'll at least check them out based on your rec :).

Hiaasen is...odd. Broadly satiric. He clearly loves Florida in a way that I don't think a non-Floridian ever could. Also, not always lunchtime reading. I'd start with Tourist Season- I think it's one of his better ones, and very representative of his style.

And I'm with you. I wish Reilly was working on a new Scarecrow book. I'll be mildly interested to see how the movie does (in a way that may not include actually seeing it unless it gets good reviews- I don't get out to theatres much either!)
