Look, fannish content!

Today is better than the terrible day I had yesterday! But 1) that's not difficult and 2) it's probably largely because I'm working from home. But only today and tomorrow, and then I'm pretty excited about Thanksgiving and by "Thanksgiving" I mostly mean "pie, and watching horror movies with my brother," but it's going to be great ( Read more... )

But does Gway's velocity make you sweat?

(WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN?)

I don't understand what half the lyrics mean! And that's...where I even understand what he's saying to begin with.

Everything about Vampire Money is hilarious. You were totally right.

I so agree with you on all Joss related points! I would have loved to have been part of the old audience turned new several years in the future, but I'll take what happens now and see where it goes. As much as its my first fannish love, I don't feel fiercely protective of it any more, so we'll see!

The Harry Potter movie was quite good! I actually want to write for the fandom. Or maybe I just want to write longass meta posts on how much DanRad advocates for equality by answering questions about his sexuality with "does it matter?" rather than "I'm straight but I love the gays", or maybe I just want to post lots of pictures of Emma Watson with her new hair because TURNS OUT I find her quite hot like that, or maybe I just want to write about friendships or trios or threesomes and solace in dangerous times. I don't even KNOW.

Wow, this comment is both useful and relevant. I love how I never post about fannish related stuff and just throw it at people in comment sections. *g*

I really don't either, which surprises me. But I think it has a lot of potential, and even if it's bad, that doesn't touch the original and...well, there probably will be another reboot in about 10 years or so.

I didn't know that about DanRa. Very cool. Comment is totally useful and relevant! And obviously you're always welcome to throw fannish stuff in my comment section. :)

Yessss, that sounds amazing. I would read lots of fic about that.

DanRad is really good friends with Our Lady J, and it blew my mind when I found out; I highly recommend this interview in Out magazine, it's really fab, and it's made me staunchly adore the guy. And not just the queer angle - he talks about Broadway like Broadway actors do, and it's really beautiful. Also he listens to Frank Turner. I'm quite the fan of DanRad!

And I don't know! I was just struck by how atmospheric the film was; I sort of want to write time passing and that tent and the frustrations that come with being confined, and the tensions and bonds and etc etc etc. Maybe it'll happen!

Aww, hi icon. We still love you!

Oh, that interview is fantastic!

I sort of want you to write that too. I really did like the movie - so stark and desperate and tense. They did such a good job with the adaptation from the book.

Other Ravenclaw icon! Still deciding if these should be replaced. :)

I remember obsessively watching the first film when it came out, and so when the show came out I was like, "Oh, neat!" Because face it, that was a reboot less than a decade. And the time is right in terms of what teens and audiences want... so I'm totally okay with it. I'm a bit worried about a never-written-a-screenplay-before-fangirl writing the film, but at the same time... she could become the next it girl.

I'll watch it, I'm sure it'll be awful and fun, and I'm okay with it.

Oh, it definitely has potential! It could be really good. I just like that whole reboot *thing* where things are rebooted years and years later and everyone get so excited! While I'm totally okay with it, it's too early for me to be really excited about it. But I'm definitely willing to give it a chance.

Exactly! The energy is there, so why not work it before it dies off some? It IS too early to get excited, but yes, I'm keeping a more open heart than a lot of people I've been seeing (sadly so!).

That's definitely true. It's weird how the fanfic media fandom fanbase - who you would think would be the most worked up - are much more "eh, okay, sure" and the non-fandom fans seem to be much more upset about it. Maybe because of less experience with the idea of transformative works in general?
