So my goal to be better about keeping up with fannish stuff has been going really, really badly. There is lots of school reading! And I can't check LJ at the internship (<- really a big part of the problem). I've also been attempting to go to bed at something resembling a decent hour so that I'm not a zombie all the time ( Read more... )

Hee! It's so true of Merlin and Arthur, though. As I was watching I just kept thinking..."they're - really - not going to go there? Where else could this narrative possibly be going? Is there anything else that would even make narrative sense at this point? I don't really think so."

The Gwen/Morgana was pretty great too. I love this show.

I know, right? If it were a female and male lead, it would not only be transparent, it would be inevitable, and there would be like, merchandise propagating their TRUELOVE. Like you said, the only direction FOR the narrative to go would be there. Instead there's just us fangirls on the internets squeeing.

Lol, did you see that review of the ep that I linked in my last Merlin post? His Gwen/Morgana dialog was the BEST:

MORGANNA: Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh!

GWEN: What is it, my lady?

MORGANNA: I had a nightmare! I was still in Merlin! And you were there, and… oh.

GWEN: Ssssh, it’s alright, my lady, it was just more unnecessary foreshadowing. Go back to sleep. Maybe you’ll have that dream where you end up an evil sorceress, crushing the world in your new steel and leather bustier.

MORGANNA: I do like that dream. Gwen… if it ever happens…

GWEN: There will be talcum powder waiting, mi’lady. Trust me.

MORGANNA: I don’t know what I’d do without you, Gwen. You will be last to die.

That's actually part of why I had to *stop* watching House it wasn't going to go there, but that didn't make narrative sense!

It would take a whole lot more than that to get me to stop watching Merlin, though.

I did see that! Hilarious. I love Gwen and Morgana so much.

Logic-wise I can't *quite* figure out why not having Sam around is going to make Dean worry *less.*
This is my biggest problem. I don't mind the split as such, because it's pretty obvious it won't last forever, but the reason for it just sounded ridiculous to me. Not knowing where Sam is and what he's doing is going to make Dean worry less? Really? Dean Winchester? There is simply no way that's ever going to make sense to me.

Right? He's afraid Sam's falling off the demon-addiction bandwagon even when Sam is standing right behind him. So...let's send Sam somewhere where Dean can't even keep an eye on him. That's gonna go great. I'm sure Dean won't worry at all in that case. *eyeroll*

Aw Krycek, you whiny little weasel. I do love him so. ♥ I also enjoy the idea of Mulder/Krycek very much, but mostly in a "yum, hate!sex!" kind of way. I'm still a rabid Mulder/Scully girl too. And hey, they ACTUALLY get to sail into the sunset! Show, HOW SO RIDICULOUS?! There is really no sense to be found here at all.

Supernatural, ugh <3333 I thought the Castiel scene was mostly ridiculous and felt like a leftover from the tone of seasons 3 and 4 (Anna's "Grace" comes to mind) where they do these ludicrous things and expect us to take them seriously. But then the rest of the episode was gorgeous and breathtaking and suspenseful and laugh-in-the-face-of-death and it was all very season 2-ish. I loved it with all of my heart. There was charming and smarmy War, who I found to be perfectly cast, and oh the cherry Mustang! I also loved Ellen and Jo and Rufus and the fact that they LIVED. Incredible. I'm just so head over heels for that part of the story, I could really do without "Cas" and the great scavenger hunt for God with the ( ... )

Mulder's always like "Krycek! You whiny little weasel!" and Krycek's just always like "WHAT I DIDN'T DO IT ALSO STOP HITTING ME ;__;" But he always did it. He always, always did it. He's still my favorite! ♥ And yeah, I knew that the overall arc didn't make sense even when I was watching, but the number of episodes - especially mytharc episodes - that lack even internal consistency is actually pretty hilarious.

I could really do without "Cas" and the great scavenger hunt for God with the stupid amulet that GLOWS, lolwhat

Exactly. I liked the rest of it a lot, and if it's going to feel like s2, then they really could suck me back in again, but what is going on with all that angel stuff? I don't even mind Castiel. I like Castiel fine and I really liked Anna, but some of the stuff that's done with them is just absurd. Like the Grace and now the amulet and the search for God and the whole thing with Dean being Michael's vessel. Just. What? It's completely ridiculous.

This was always my issue with, like, the end of "Shadow", as well (really? John is going to worry less about his kids when he doesn't know their exact whereabouts and anything could be happening to them?), and is always my issue with any kind of "you have to go away so I won't worry about you!!!!" story. Like, logically, it just doesn't work.

It really doesn't. I totally could have bought them separating because Sam didn't trust himself around the hunt. That's fine. But only if they have a specific check-in time where they call each other every day. Also Dean would know Sam's exact whereabouts at all times to make sure that he *was* staying away from demons. Or he would leave him with Bobby. This "sure, go away so that I have no idea where you are during an apocalypse because that's not concerning at all" bit is pretty ridiculous. The same thing with Shadow, but at least there they gave lipservice to the idea that they couldn't be in contact because the demons would find Sam and Dean through John (didn't they? I remember something like that). It still didn't make much sense, but there was a bit of an attempt made to justify.

I'm with you on that trope always being annoying and pretty much never working, though.

I mean, even if he's choosing the Great Apocalyptic Battle over Sam or whatever at this point, wouldn't it still be in his best interest to make sure Sam doesn't go all demony and end up on the other side of said Battle?

Yeah, that makes the kind of sense that's not. "You're Trouble with a Capital T! How about I look the other way while you skedaddle?" Riiiiiight.

Right. Because there's no way that Sam can get in trouble when left to his own devices. It's not like that's ever happened before. O.o.
