I saw Star Trek last night. Star Trek was never really my fandom. I have the normal fannish osmosis knowledge and my dad was a fan when I was growing up, so I did have exposure, but it's not one of the fannish texts in which I have an incredible amount of investment except kind of in the general way where I acknowledge how important it is to ( Read more... )

I just saw the movie today! It was huge fun even though I also only had "normal fannish osmosis knowledge"

I loved how respectful there were to the fans - everyone around me at the movies was delighted. I thought it was really well done.

Yeah, everyone I've talked to has loved it. How rare is that for a geek movie, and how hard is that to do for something like Star Trek especially? I'm so impressed that they pulled it off!
