I saw Star Trek last night. Star Trek was never really my fandom. I have the normal fannish osmosis knowledge and my dad was a fan when I was growing up, so I did have exposure, but it's not one of the fannish texts in which I have an incredible amount of investment except kind of in the general way where I acknowledge how important it is to fannish history as a whole. So I say this as a fangirl who is nevertheless also something of an outsider in this particular case:
