I found out Lafayette died when reading the second book. The show had just started at that point, and I was like, "WHAT.THE.FUCK." He's such a well done character, that losing him & killing him off really kills a bit of the show. Rene's accent totally did me in-- the actor did a beautiful job with it.
True Blood didn't really suck me in (haha, suck) but it was entertaining enough for the most part.
That's kind of the show 100% for me. (Well, other than my huge gooey crush on Sam)
I haven't read the books, but I've heard they're good. Lafayette was definitely my favorite. The show won't be anywhere near as entertaining without him. Yeah, and Rene I just kind of quietly liked. He wasn't the most visible character, but he was there in the background and really charming and likable - which was how I knew he was probably going to be the killer. :(
I'll probably watch next season, but I'm not super invested in it.
