I am dumb! I didn't realize that your post would be spoilery. I thought it would be like 99% of the other posts on the movie:"Wow, OMG, what a great movie" and the ilk.

The actual word "spoiler" would have stopped me.

Oh no! Well, there's definitely a *lot* more to it than what I've said here. I was mostly concerned with the MSR stuff. *g*

I agree with you for the most part, definitely. They made it very bizarrely ambiguous at times, but then again, this is The X-Files. If there had suddenly been a huge scene where they declare their love and devotion in PLAIN ENGLISH, I would have been very weirded out and had to go check that I was at the right movie. Soooo for what I was expecting, we got a LOT. A lot a lot.

And I think they were living together, yes. I think. Uh. That was pretty unclear, actually. But what i walked away with is that they FINALLY entered a conventional relationship, with sexxin and everything, and that was kind of all I wanted. LET THEM BE IN LOVE DAMMIT.

The cover of TV Guide says "Do Mulder and Scully fall in love?" and I was like THAT HAPPENED LIKE THE FIRST YEAR THEY WERE TOGETHER. DUH. But I suppose you can't say "Do M and S get with the sexy funtiems??" on a magazine cover ;)

You're right, of course. But it still would have made me happy. *g* Mostly, though, yeah. I was just happy they were together. IT'S ABOUT TIME.

I kind of need to read spoilers, forewarned is forearmed maybe? I'm surprised how emotionally weird I am about this movie. I'm not sure yet whether I'll see it in the theater or wait for DVD, as my squee embarrasses me and I'm not comfortable in crowds at the best of times. I'm glad to hear you weren't disappointed by it.

It's DEFINITELY a movie for fans, but yes, as a die hard fan, it worked for me - at least the character stuff did, and I can dismiss the pieces of the plot that didn't because that's not what I was there for anyway.

I was surprised at how weird I was about it too. I didn't expect the old X-phile craziness to rear its ugly head quite so intensely.

Of course, I have a squick with that so the ideal amount of amputation in a movie is none at all and so that might be my problem.

Hee! I'm so with you. (While I love one-armed Krycek, I detest any sort of chopping up of people onscreen.)

Character stuff pretty much made the movie for me. The plot was.. .confusing. Even more confusing than the "does Scully actually live in this Unibomber shack?" bit.

I would have liked really expositiony dialog detailing the development of their relationship. Also diagrams and flow charts, maybe a timeline.

Hee! I would like that. Sadly, I don't think Chris Carter has it in his cold, cold heart.

I loved Krycek regardless of the number of arms he had. But I would have preferred two. And I would have rather the amputation didn't happen onscreen.

The plot was ridiculous, but I was there for the character stuff, so it was satisfying. (Would have been more so with Krycek, of course *g*). TBH, I'm surprised CC gave us as much as he did. I wanted everything super clear cut - but I was just being greedy. :)

(As a note, this is Andy, you know, your brother's Andy. I swiped the LJ a while ago when you were at our place and I totally just checked it for the first time. You are now "teh friended.")

So I have some plot complaints, but this is Chris Carter and I went in expecting to have plot complaints and, indeed, to fully disregard the plot if I deemed it necessary. You kill me. Sums up what I resigned myself to about two-thirds of the way through ( ... )

Hi! Nice icon.

I was disappointed that the movie didn't have the epic feel that FTF had. I get that it had to stand on its own a bit more because it's been so long since the show went off the air, but I missed the aliens and the mytharc way more than I expected to - especially given how pissed off I was by the mytharc at the end.

I really don't like that they're done with the crusade; I liked Scully actually working as a doctor, that felt very IC and I can see them leaving the FBI - but leaving all that stuff behind after being so invested in it for so long doesn't sit well with me either.

But I did like th character and ship stuff and yeah, it reminded me why I used to be as crazy obsessed with that show as I was. There are things about it that I wish has been different and I'm fairly certain it's going to tank, which makes me sad, but if canon is going to be closed for good, there are worse ways they could have done it, and it's nice to have closure of some kind.
