That was lovely. Your prose has such poetry in it. Beautifully written, and a much appreciated offering for the third day of our twelve days celebration! Thank you.

Thank you - the original story is so beautiful and haunting, and I tried to let this little snippet reflect that. Thank you again for covering for me when I couldn't post this, and for hosting the twelve days celebration in the first place :)

Thank you! I'm really glad you enjoyed it - the story of the Holly King and the Oak King has always been a favorite of mine, and it was a joy to tell it here. It's about hope more than anything else, and I'm thrilled the final line conveyed that!

Happy Holidays to you too!

Holidays prove to be so varied. And winter has so much colours. Happy Holidays for you too. :)

Very true - I've always felt that "bleak midwinter" is a bit misleading. Evergreens (especially where I live) are quite vibrant :)

Yes, and even if there is no plants. I always observe it anew, when go to take photos of winter. So many shades and hues of blue and gold. Snow, sunshine, water, ice... and dandified mallards. :)

Beautiful! I enjoy picturing Jack telling a tale like this.

And no need to apologize for the delay. At this time of year we're all having stuff sprung on us.

Thank you! The first thing that popped into my head when geekmama posted this was the story about the Holly and Oak kings - it immediately struck me as a tale Jack would tell :D

The relatives were unexpected, but a welcome surprise nonetheless. Happy Holidays to you!
