Yule finds them in the icy seas of the Atlantic, but with Jack and Gibbs spinning stories the night does not seem so long, or so dark.

I too love the final line, but also the first passage, mirroring the last, with Jack's inscrutable reasons, the foul weather and the men still trusting him. And of course, Jack and Gibbs telling stories :-)

Thank you - I love literary symmetry, and with Jack it's just too hard to resist. And Jack and Gibbs as storytellers was impossible to resist as well :)
