So glad to hear you reconnecting to your spiritual side. You have always struck me as someone with a deep spiritual core, even if it was not ritually expressed.

Sometimes rituals are needed. It's surprising when that happens, no?

**HUGS** How are you doing? How's the new job?? How is Elijah doing?

I think I've hit something of a mid-life crisis this year. Looking back and feeling I don't have much to show for my life so far & wanting to change that. I don't have kids to carry on my name and while that's not a big deal to me, I do want something of mine to live on (like my photos!!). And part of that looking back/forward is realising that I've always had some sort of spiritual creek inside but it has gone dry. I don't want to get into organised religion again, but I have been going with C to some services she's interested in. The labyrinth is being held in that church building.

Some rituals are needed, yes. And it can be surprising when I'd turned my back on organised religion. I am hopeful that this labyrinth will just help me get in a better head/heart place. Even temporarily.

New job's fantastic. Life seems to be on an ever-upward trajectory so that works. =) Elijah's doing well; the first couple of weeks post-end-of-contract were rough, but things seem to be looking up as well there. More details to come if I ever get around to posting! =P

The tricky thing about rituals, I've found, is that the *thing* that is most frustrating about organized religion (for me, dogma/doctrine) is *the **thing** that can get sneakily attached to rituals.
But it doesn't have to be that way - rituals that you create for yourself, in a meaningful and deliberate way, can serve the purposes you need them to. Then, ideally (IMHO), if dogma has been avoided the rituals can be discarded or recreated as needed.

So it's nice to hear that you're beginning to seek them out for yourself. Another trick is to not let anyone else say that your rituals are not important - or, even worse, "stupid" or "meaningless".

Good to hear the new job is going well & Elijah's doing well too.

I always feel self conscious when I do rituals, even in private. I know I shouldn't but I do.

I've started burning a little bit of sage every once in awhile. I haven't attached any ritual to it since it's while I make dinner, but it seems to help me relax a little bit more, just to be able to taek a breath.

It's a beautiful poem. I prefer The Waterboy's version of it set to song over Loreena McKennit's version. But I do love Loreena McKennit.
