Black Cat episode 23 [END] screencaps
WOOT, IT'S DONE! But before I go any further in my, uh, glee, I'd like to mention that there are rumors floating about that Black Cat will have a 24th episode that will be a DVD exclusive. There's no conclusive evidence about that yet, but here's hoping they'll hire an animation team that cares about their project, if the rumors are true. I continue to blame the poor animation quality not on the budget, but on the team that undertook Black Cat, the animation; no amount of budget limitations can possibly excuse the blatant disrespect with which this might-have-been-good series was handled, especially in this episode. Ranting aside, screencaps.

Comment and credit if you use, please. Now, aside from what I wasn't happy with in this episode, I will say that the animation quality improved substantially, save for a few odd gems; and, of course, no modern anime would be complete without the obligatory Evangelion reference (there's nothing obligatory about that!). That being said, this wasn't a horrible episode, save for the fact that certain continuity errors were commited, and canon... was basically ignored. The fact that the episode randomly skipped to "after the battle" sequences between major action to show what everyone was doing after the conflict was resolved prevented it from ever successfully providing a cohesive, engaging story. In short, Gonzo: I hate you. So bad.
But let's move on to happier thoughts, shall we? The pans aren't terrible.
ETA: For those of you familiar with Angelic Layer as well as Black Cat, here's a bit of a (questionable) treat for you.
