So It Ends, So It Begins...

My parents were in town all last week and I took off work so I could show them around London. We had a great time and saw pretty much everything. I'll post some pictures and stories later this week. However, while out with my parents, I got the call from Remedy saying they were going to pass on hiring me ( Read more... )

You could always move to Toronto with me, we could help each other out, you could work for MTV Canada or jump ship and work for Much Music.

midlife crisis...funny. its too early and this isnt it. i think its good to make a plan. given the uncertainty of the situation and feeling bad about things, which is very understandable, making a plan helps to give you a sense of control over a messy situation. i think its very nice of you to worry about your parents and not wanting to worry them when you feel overwhelmed too. im a big planner. and a big worrier. and maybe im just changing but im becoming better with letting things fall where they may. you can plan to a degree but you cant control everything. you can get reassurance from the fact that youre surrounded by a lot of people who want you to succeed. as for where youre going or where you should go, ill be in your neck of the woods, in london as well as other places in europe, sometime this spring and summer on a couple of occasions. maybe our paths will cross.

hey, before i forget:

we'll be in brussels from may 27-30 (maybe 31), and then amsterdam after that, and finishing the trip in london, leaving june 6th. lemme know if you'll be around any of those places. :D

re: job, well, i know that you know you shouldn't let it affect your ego. and your plan of not having a plan other than traveling around? it sounds _great_. i think it's what you need. :)

cool. tobin's giving his linguistics presentation at a conference there on may 28th, in the morning. so wednesday the 27th or thursday afternoon would be perfect! ('cause i think we might be leaving for amsterdam earlier than i thought)

it's still in planning stages, but the tickets are bought. we'll just have to decide where we're staying in brussels.

so exciting. :D

Sounds a bit scary, but I think you're right... If you don't do it now, you probably will never get another chance. I say go for it and enjoy your time while trying to forget about everything. I know I sure wish I could get away for a month and forget about a lot of things right now. I think this year will probably turn out better than you're probably thinking right now. Good Luck!

As I've said before, you'll be very welcome in Copenhagen. It's an expensive city, but you can stay for free, so that should make up for our insane prices! ;-)

Also, I'd suggest you consider visiting some of Eastern Europe. I've never done much travelling there except for a jaunt around some of the former Yugoslav republic (Slovenia, Croatia and Bosnia), but there are some classic cities that would be well worth a visit. And prices are moderate, compared to Western Europe. Oh, and it's very easy and cheap to travel between Copenhagen and Berlin, so that might be a good stop to schedule in connection with a visit to Copenhagen. (Also, from Copenhagen we could go for a day-trip to Sweden if you'd like to add another Scandinavian country.)

It's must be a bit scary to be making this sort of plans, but I think it's a great idea to make the best of a bad situation. After all, when will you next be in a position to travel around Europe for an extended period of time?
