So It Ends, So It Begins...

My parents were in town all last week and I took off work so I could show them around London. We had a great time and saw pretty much everything. I'll post some pictures and stories later this week. However, while out with my parents, I got the call from Remedy saying they were going to pass on hiring me ( Read more... )

I think it sounds like an awesome plan and I applaud you for doing it!

I'm in the same boat... NYC didn't work out thanks to my job but I'm going to suck it up and move on... it's all we can do.

My company cut 20% of its employees and then graced the rest of us with 10% pay cuts. I simply can't afford to live here anymore, especially if more cuts are to come. So, I'm headed back to Houston where the economy is better and I have more options for employment. I REALLY do love NYC though and plan to come back and visit often!

Yay, good for you! It may seem kind of crazy now, but it sounds like it's going to be an awesome chapter in your life. I love traveling, and when everything's not totally planned -- that's when some of the best surprises happen. I will stop now since I'm sounding like some kind of motivational speaker, LOL!

If you plan on doing the backpacking thing then I recommend checking out CouchSurfing. Basically you can find a bunch of people in various places who would be willing to let you stay for free and possibly even show you around their fair cities or point you to some of the attractions. The idea is that you would then do the same for other people while you're not traveling, but isn't necessarily required to offer them a place to stay; just grabbing a drink together or giving them a tour would suffice (which you can also find people willing to do on your own travels).

I know you don't know me, but it would be nice to meet you. Give me a holler when you're in Las Vegas and perhaps we could hang out.

You KNOW what my 30th year was like. And my 31st. But the most telling comment was from the office manager at my old dentist's office. She called me to remind me to make a dental appointment last spring, but I was already in CA. I told her, "Well, [my ex] and I are divorced, and I'm living in CA, so I won't be able to make an appointment."

She said, "Let me guess - you just turned 30, right?"

Why does everyone know more than me?
