Last night I went to see Gypsy at City Center starring Patti LuPone. I'm not the biggest Patti LuPone fan. Her voice, although pretty fierce, is kind of biting, so it's an acquired taste. I wasn't really impressed with her in the revival of Sweeny Todd last year ( Read more... )

I wouldn't say Patti has a "biting" voice. She's really well known for her enunciation though. I remember when she gave out an award at the drama desk awards with all these crazy names she had to pronounce. It was HILARIOUS!
anyhow,
a clip for you here if you were looking.

OH! I found the clip of where she gives out that award. It's HILARIOUS.

btw, I'm not a huge patti fan either, but I read a really good article about why she is actually more popular in the West End than on Broadway these days...

you have NO IDEA darling. Theater and Broadway are huge passions in my life. That's the main reason why I visit NY about 3-5 times a year or did. I'm visiting once or twice later this year.

I'm considering moving back there. I was only there for four months the first time for a summer internship, but I sometimes think I might be ready to come back. I have two really good friends (best friends) that are moving there soon, too.
