Friday was such a day. The temple was holding an all-musical Shabbat that evening, followed by a dinner. Rabbi B had asked me some time ago to give the Torah reading that night, and since I conducted entire services as a lay-leader at my hometown temple, I figured that one Torah reading wouldn't be a problem and said yes. At 5:15, I took my son and his friends to a trampoline park <1 mile from my home. Going home, I have to pass my complex and make a U-turn, but the whole trip home still takes five minutes. At 7:00, my son frantically called me, and I set out in a blizzard. My neighbor showed up after we'd waited for an hour and walked the kids home (on a trail across a divider). I got home at 11:10. That's four hours, and a scary hill.

And here comes another one tonight (maybe).

I hope you're feeling better.

Oh my gosh, how awful! My Facebook feed has been full of LR friends who have way worse horror stories than mine, so I guess I shouldn't complain about one 30-minute drive. I'm glad you eventually got home safely. It drives me crazy that the weather reports are changing so much!

Oh, and I grew up in Ohio, so while *I* know what I'm doing, there's no snow equipment down here and most drivers don't know how to drive in it (as in folks from Louisiana ;)). It was the most snow I've ever seen here in 14 years.

Haha, yes, folks from Louisiana should definitely stay off the roads! At the Shabbat dinner, I talked to one congregant who moved here from Denver, and even she was concerned about how much snow there was!
