It's raining much too hard right now, and heavy rains usually get me freaking out about the roof/gutters, so let's see if I can write something to distract myself.
Well, the highlight of September was that Sara and I went to the movie theater down the street one weeknight and saw The Golden Girls on the big screen! They aired five episodes (The Engagement, Grab That Dough, The Flu, The Way We Met, and Ladies of the Evening) to celebrate the show's anniversary, and it was really cool to see them in a theater. I, of course, wore my Golden Girls t-shirt and actually restrained myself from singing along with the theme song. It was kinda funny because the very next day, Sara happened to call our mom, who is still pretty paranoid about Covid. At some point, she said, "When will we ever feel safe going to a movie theater again?" and Sara said, "Well, we went to the movies yesterday." I don't mask up anymore unless the place requires it, and right now, only the animal shelter and the library still are.
The other highlight of the month was Abram's 5TH BIRTHDAY! He is still happy with little at-home parties, and I am glad. He wanted cupcakes instead of a cake, so I baked a batch for him myself. He, Lydia, and Athena came over the weekend right after his actual birthday, and we fired confetti cannons in the backyard and played some vintage Mario World video games on the computer. Abram was so amazed that I was actually good at them. I usually suck at Friday Night Funkin' and all the other weird modern video games that he plays. Lydia is still almost completely non-verbal (like, doesn't even babble) but super busy and active. She and I walked around the neighborhood a little, and even though it was still hot for September, that did nothing to slow her down.
It was a kinda lazy summer around here. I did a lot of work on the evenings and weekends trying to get my white rockbed level across (it had been higher in the middle), but it was so hot that I didn't do much else. At some point this summer, I started taking a nap when I got home from work everyday, which screwed up my evening schedule and made it harder to fall asleep at night. It sucks, but it has been such a hard habit to break! Ugh! I made some goals about working out more this summer, but I didn't really stick to them. Late last year, the job of processing incoming orders at my job got switched from my coworker K to me. I didn't mind at all, but it has me sitting down at work more than I used to, and my body definitely shows it in how flabby it's gotten. Ugh!
Sara and I got Disney-Plus on Memorial Day weekend (if I remember right), and when I saw that they only carried one season of the old serial Spin and Marty (even though it ran for three seasons), I decided to try to make it last. I finally watched the last episode this month, and it was kinda bittersweet. I was kinda surprised by how well it aged for being almost 70. I know that most people my age and younger have never even heard of Spin and Marty, but I happened to find it on Vault Disney on late nights back when I was in high school and Mom and Dad were divorcing, and it took me away to a better place. Days at the Triple R Ranch were just so corny and wholesome and fun.
Still keeping busy with reading (currently on Eligible and Silver Days), reviewing fanfiction, and earning a little extra money on Mechanical Turk.
P.S. Why is it still raining?! UGH!!!
