Oscars Weekend 2017: The weekend I've been waiting for all month long!

Athena and Abram are here!!! Fortunately, their plane didn't get delayed again, and they landed around 11am on Friday. But, due to a miscommunication from Josh, I briefly thought their plane had gotten delayed again and if not for Sara, we wouldn't even have been at the airport to pick them up! Athena said Abram did really well on the flight and slept through most of it. She had some belated Christmas/Hanukkah gifts for us. I got a giant mug with Stars of David on it, some hot chocolate mixes, and pink salt.

Abram is five months old now. He still can't walk, talk, or sign, but he has grown so much since I last saw him at Thanksgiving, and gotten so much more expressive. At Thanksgiving, he still a glorified potato who couldn't even raise his head or focus his eyes. Now, he can sit up by himself... and doesn't seem to mind when he falls straight forward onto his face. He can hold his toys, wave them around, and shove them in his mouth. (He accidentally bopped Mayim with his rattle, and she hasn't come near him since. Tovah has been pretty much ignoring him.) He can smile at Aunt Rebecca's funny faces. He likes going on walks and looking around at everything. He always smiles when he sees Athena, and she is such a good mom. She is so patient with him; she's currently singing him a lot of "Popcorn Poppin' on the Apricot Tree" (which I remember Aunt Connie singing to her girls when they were little) and "Wheels on the Bus."

It has been so much fun having them here. On Friday, after we all got home from the airport, I think we only ventured out again to look for a stroller at Target... where I was more amused by the cute bathtub toys than Abram was. Athena bought him a door swing that he really loves wiggling around in. Today, we went to Barnes & Noble and browsed around there for a long time. Athena wanted some new baby books for Abram, and I wanted to pick up Aunt Carolyn's torch (she was always buying books for us), so I bought him The Runaway Bunny and Sara bought him The Rooster Struts.

When we got back, we took Abram for a walk through the neighborhood in his stroller. I'm so grateful that the weather has been more springlike than cold. The pear trees are actually blooming right now, so Abram got to see some "popcorn poppin'," even if it wasn't on apricot trees. I bet he won't see that in Colorado for a while. We rented Manchester by the Sea (depressing as hell) and a weird French production of Beauty and the Beast, but I fell asleep during that one.

Can't wait for the Oscars tomorrow!!!

athena, fun times
