Here's to 2016: a year without a move in it!

The last day of 2015 was a pretty rough one for Rebecca. Some of that was my fault. I mistakenly thought that we'd get off work early for New Year's Eve, and I stayed up much too late the night before watching Speed with Sara and wasting time on fanfiction. You can imagine what an unpleasant shock it was to discover a full work day waiting for me the next morning, and with a lot of heavy lifting to do, too. One of our clients has a habit of sending us tons of boxes out of nowhere, and on the last day of the year, we got 46 which I had to find room for on zero notice. Oy.

On top of that, my big toe was absolutely killing me. I know complaining about a toe seems whiny, but it hurt like murder to put even a little pressure on it. I ducked inside the work bathroom, yanked off that shoe and sock, image-searched the words "ingrown toenail" on my phone, and held the results up next to my foot. I'm still not sure if I have one or not. I took some painkillers and kept my sock off for the rest of the day, and it hasn't bothered me since then.

I was tired and achey, so I conked out hard as soon as I got home, then woke up that evening to watch Speed with Sara (yes, again). She had a VHS of that movie when we were kids and recently rediscovered her addiction to it, so I bought her a DVD of it for Christmas. She can recite almost the entire script from memory, which is a little scary. We were watching it at midnight last night, and we actually flipped over into 2016 right at the same moment when the bus jumped over the gap in the freeway! Sara got me a shirt that says, "Happy Hanukkah, ya filthy animal" (a la Home Alone). I told her that I wanted one year without another move in it.

Today the weather was sunny and mild, so I slept in, then sat in the sun with Mayim. I went to Shabbat services tonight (the first time I've been to this temple since November, probably) and the musicians sang "Mi Kamocha" to the tune of "Auld Lang Syne." It was very pretty.

work: rcp, new year
