California dreamin' on such a winter's day....

One of my goals for the New Year was to clean out Muse Watson (my car). I have a bad habit of throwing junk into his backseat and leaving it there. I finally did it a few days ago, and besides a lot of empty soda bottles and junk-food wrappers, guess what else I found? An entire paycheck, from the first week of November, that I never deposited and never noticed that I didn't deposit! Oy.

To celebrate 2014, I made green glop on New Year's Day. It turned out well. Given how long I've loved eating that stuff (for about as long as I can remember) you'd think I would've learned how to make it myself sooner.

I've been complaining all winter about how cold it is here, but I might've spoken too soon, because right now, we're getting by an "arctic blast," the coldest air of the winter. The high for tomorrow is supposed to be 21 degrees -- the high! The cold will be about 9. And the worst part is that I probably won't even get another snow day out of it. *grumble, grumble* I just wish I could fast-forward to spring and warm weather, so I could dust off my bike and ride it to work and temple again, not have to dress in four layers just to dash from my apartment to my car to work, and go more than a few hours without putting chapstick on my lips! Ugh!

And since this is my first entry of 2014, here's a list of all the books I read in 2013. I think I did do better than last year (although that's not saying much).

Sisterhood Everlasting, by Ann Brashares
Bitterblue, Fire, and Graceling, by Kristin Cashore
River, Cross My Heart, by Breena Clarke
Room, by Emma Donoghue
Les Miserables, by Victor Hugo
Little House on Rocky Ridge, by Roger MacBride
The Road, by Cormac McCarthy
The Grooming of Alice, by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor
Following Christopher Creed, by Carol Plum-Ucci
Every Last One, by Anna Quindlen
The Watcher in the Woods, by Florence Engel Randall
