2013 marked my 5th fanniversary on LJ. Here's what I did.

Congratulations to McDiva on her first acceptance. The whole college application process sounds unbelievably stressful, especially when such huge distances are involved. You all seem to have coped with it very well, though.

Hope everything goes as you would wish this year.

I'll convey your congratulations to McDiva. I'm not sure who was most stressed by this whole thing, but hopefully it'll all be over soon. Then the excitement will begin!

It's early in September, but before that we have a huge house renovation project looming. I will probably be absent a lot from fandom myself this year.

Hope it'll still be around when I get back.

Hoo boy. Nothing like doing it all at once. Who knows? You may find solace in fandom while all is madness around you.

Yay for you and McDiva! I'm excited to hear how the process turns out for both of you -- and excited for you to enjoy some aspects of the empty nest! Maybe someday we can really meet up in SF and do something awesome :-D. (That is, I can stop being such a Berkeley homebody while I am there, hehe.)

You're not here now, are you? When you do come, allow me to take you museum hopping or somesuch!

I've talked with parents who were completely "¡Yay!" about the empty nest, and others that were alternately "¡Yay!" and "Life Has No Meaning". So far, nobody has admitted to being in the LHNM camp all of the time. I doubt I'll be the first. ;-)

Not there now, but I hope to be soon! My sister, who lives in Berkeley, is applying for jobs right now, so I don't want to contribute to her stress by lounging around her house all day :).
