I find out April 11th (my son's birthday) if I still have a job. We will lose 18 people, 1/3 of our department, and who knows if I made the first cut. Then in the 1st quarter of '09 the rounds are made again ( Read more... )

I'd start looking now. No point in waiting for the axe to fall. Assuming you survive the first cut.

If you get cut, I suggest that you yell "Fine! But I'm not giving back the diamond ring, you CAD!" at the HR director.

That said, I hope you don't get cut, because job hunting is a bitch. Of course, you could end up with a better job at better pay, so who knows - all I know is that in the end, you will be full of win. Because you are a person who prevails.
