Foody Thursday - Dolma, or Grape Leaf Rolls

Aug 01, 2013 15:11

Very close to the famous cabbage rolls, just easier to make, especially if you have grapes growing in your backyard

Ingredients you will need:

Grape Leaves - about 50
Cooked Rice - 3 cups
Ground Beef - 1 lb
Carrots - 3 large
Onion, minced - 1
Salt
Pepper
Sour Cream or Tomato Sauce
Water   or vegetable broth - 3-4 cups

1. Mix cooked rice, grated carrots, ground beef, minced onions, salt and pepper. Filling is ready!
2. Wash grape leaves, and rinse with boiling water, let cool
3. Place 1 tbsp of filling and roll up just as shown on the picture below

4. Place 4-5 grape leaves on the bottom on your slowcooker. And load your rolls, alternating the direction for each layer
5 In a separate bowl mix water 3-4 cups, salt, pepper, tomato sauce and sour cream, about 3-4 tbsp each, pour over the rolls
6. Cover and cook on high for 4 hours

Serve with either tomato sauce or sour-cream. Bon appetit!
