Advice??

If someone was writing a series of short (1000-3000 words) one-shots on each of the HP next gen kids and grandchild groupings (currently projected at 15-20 pieces), how would you want to read it? As 15-20 one-shots, or as one story with 15-20 chapters? Keep in mind that the stories are all interconnected and will refer back to one another, but they ( Read more... )

I think it would work either way, with maybe an author's note and links at the beginning explaining that while these are all set in the same universe and refer to one another at times, they can also stand alone.

I think it depends on where you plan on archiving. On a site formatted like ff.n, I think it would be easier to pick and choose which you wanted to read if they were archived separately instead of as chapters of the same fic, but on LJ, I think it could work either way so long as there was something like an index page with separate links for all of them. I believe AO3 will let you group things as a 'series', so that all parts of a series are linked together, but not grouped as chapters of the same story, which is a nice compromise between the two -- enables someone to go to your main page and pick and choose, or click on the series and read them all at once, linking from one story to the next.
