Rhode Island school district hires back fired teachers

Not many details but apparently the union has caved and agreed to the (quite reasonable, IMO) requirements that they work a few extra hours in an attempt to improve the dismal test scores of the district.
CENTRAL FALLS, R.I. - A school district that gained the support of President Barack Obama for promoting accountability after it fired all its teachers from a struggling school announced on Sunday it had reached an agreement with the union to return the current staffers to their jobs.

More than 700 people applied for those 78 positions. I'm not surprised, those teachers were "earning" well above median salaries. Hopefully they now see that it is their fault when failing students are promoted every year. It's up to the teachers and administrators to make sure only students who are actually learning get to advance. Keep the rest behind until they learn.

If they refuse to learn or behave...show them the door!
