More regulatory failures in gulf oil spill

In addition to granting waivers for disaster contingency plans the Obama administration Department of the Interior also failed to properly inspect the rig once it was operating.
LOS ANGELES - The federal agency responsible for ensuring that the Deepwater Horizon was operating safely before it exploded last month fell well short of its own policy that the rig be inspected at least once per month, an Associated Press investigation shows.

I am shocked...shocked, I say to see that once again regulation has failed to ensure 100% safety.

Obviously we need to turn completely away from regulation and fully embrace anarcho-capitalism!

Seriously, though, anyone who maintains that it was "unrestricted capitalism" that led to this disaster is lying.

energy, gulf of mexico, disasters, federal regulations
