Returning to theories momentarily...

I'm going to blame Isaac Asimov for the lack of progress on the fanart today. (And progress will be slower for a while since I have to focus on revision for my exams. I'll still chip in an hour or so where I can, though.) And since it's late already, I don't think that starting a cutscene analysis would be the best idea ( Read more... )

Would that also be why Weiss is capable appearing with his upper body clothed? :D

Honestly, that does sound like a good idea. It's possible that the J-cells just exacerbated the darkness.

This may sound like a silly question, but would Geostigma feature into this theory at all? As our dearest Vinny Valentine had said, Geostigma is the body trying to rid itself of alien matter, but it overcompensates. So, maybe (tell me if I'm going too far out on a limb here) Nero's body was trying to force the darkness out of Nero, along with the J-cells, resulting in the darkness being a bit more prominent.

Just a thought.

The Geostigma thing confuses me. Logic says that since Geostigma was the body trying to expel J-cells, then Deepground must have been affected, but they didn't have access to the healing rain, for obvious reasons, so -- doesn't that mean that DG should have died of Geostigma? Unless the extra mako in their systems helped fight it better than your average human.

...So, yeah, it's not a bad theory that Geostigma exacerbated the darkness. It certainly couldn't have helped.

I think he was J-cell enhanced before he went to get Genesis; that was standard SOLDIER procedure, after all. We do know that G-cell enhancement increased the power of all the Tsviets, though, so maybe it was the G-cells that increased Oblivion's power beyond Nero's complete control.

I was more wondering whether it might have affected the nature of Nero's abilities -- whether the J-cells might have allowed him to teleport where he might not have before, and so on.

So, given Jenova's ability to teleport... Would that mean to imply the Restrictors have an incredible/warped amount of J cells. In which case, the Restrictor's appearance may be more monstrous than human, hence the mask?

How does Jenova's ability to teleport imply anything about the Restrictors? *puzzled*

Well, if we assume that everyone in DeepGround had the SOLDIER treatment, plus J-cells. Or was it only the Tsviets that had J-cells.

Ugh, the Final Fantasy VII compilation just needs an appendix on what chemicals are going into what groups. -.-;; I'll probably try to get one together later.

Since DG is an offshoot of SOLDIER, I'd say everyone in Deepground had J-cells. The Tsviets were the only ones that got the G-cells, though, which is what set them apart. I think.

But unless I completely missed something, just J-cells and mako does not equal the ability to teleport, nor does the usual balance of mako and J-cells create a monstrous appearance. Upset the balance and you will (if the things in the Nibelheim reactor are any indication), but I don't think that the Researchers would have strayed too far from what they knew worked on Deepground's leaders. On lower-ranking soldiers, perhaps, and if it worked THEN they'd give it to the Restrictors, but not straight off.
