Chapter 23
“Wait here for a moment.” He disappeared down the hallway before coming back with someone else. “We were about to eat dinner. You’re welcome to join us. Please follow us.” The four of us walked down the hall into the kitchen. There, already seated at the table, were Hankyung, Siwon, Eunhyuk, Donghae, and surprisingly, Youngwoon.
“What are you guys doing here?” Eunhyuk and Donghae leaped to their feet. Sungmin and Kyuhyun got on the defense.
Leeteuk stepped between them. “Hold it. No fighting here. They’re guests. I invited them here.”
“Why?”
Leeteuk looked at Ryeowook. “Uh…well…for the past 4 months…Yesung and I have been secretly dating.”
“WHAT?”
“How could you?”
“What were you thinking?”
Leeteuk cleared his throat. “If you please, Ryeowook would like to continue.”
“Umm…as I was saying, we’ve been dating and well...we didn’t want to part so we came up with a plan.”
“A plan?” Everyone seemed skeptical.
“Well, we already discussed this with Leeteuk and...” Ryeowook looked towards Yesung, who had moved to stand behind him.
“I discussed this with Heechul.” Everyone looked towards me. I tried to remain expressionless but their stares were so daunting.
“What are you staring at?”
“You never told us about this.” Sungmin pouted.
“I’m telling you now.”
“Look, we’re all here to discuss the plan. Everyone knows I’m going to have to make a decision in a couple weeks and well…I just wanted…some kind of support and help since…it’s…it’s…” Youngwoon went over to comfort Leeteuk. I just rolled my eyes.
“Can we get this over with? It’s not good for us to stay here too long.”
“I thought you said they wouldn’t know.”
I looked over at Sungmin and shrugged. “Better safe than sorry.”
“Okay, so what’s the plan?”
“Well, we gotta take out the root of the problem. Once that’s done, we’re going to create a new kingdom where we can all reside together. Hopefully we can create a lasting peace between us.”
“Do you think that’s possible? Being able to live in peace with them?” Eunhyuk and Donghae glanced at us. I sneered at them.
“Yes because we all want the same things. We’ll make it work and it’ll last unlike now.”
“Okay, so what do we have to do?”
“Just be prepared. There’s not much else you can do now. Just be prepared. And Heechul, you know what needs to be done.” I nodded to Leeteuk.
“Well now that we’re done, we can go right?”
“Of course.” Leeteuk stood up and walked with us to the door. “Bye. I think the next time we’ll meet will be in a couple of weeks.” We all nodded. Sungmin and Kyuhyun started walking. I lingered in the doorway.
“Will this really work?”
“Do you want it to work?”
I looked at him. Did I really want this? “Yes.”
He smiled. “Then it will. I’ll talk to you later.” I nodded and left.

I watched them walk away. When I turned back around, everyone else was standing in the hallway.
“Why didn’t you tell us about this beforehand?”
“It was meant to be a secret.”
“Why?”
“I didn’t want anyone finding out beforehand and ruining things. We only have a couple weeks left. Let’s get started.” I walked back into the kitchen.

It’s been a week and everyone has been busy preparing. There are now extra guards around in case there’s an attack planned. Everyone’s in a flurry. Today a special guest is coming. There were tons of servants cleaning the house, preparing food, etc. I went into the kitchen where I found the rest of the group. Hankyung was helping in the kitchen. Eunhyuk was watching over Donghae, making sure he didn’t get in the way. Siwon was reading a book. Leeteuk seemed nervous.
“Leeteuk-sshi, what’s the matter? Are you okay?”
“Uh…yeah…I guess…”
“You sure? You don’t seem like it. You’re nervous.”
“Maybe…”
“It’s okay. It’s been a while since you last saw him.”
“I know. I’m just worried how he’s going to react. So many questions running through my head…it’s just…”
“He’s here and he’s not alone.”
“WHAT?” Everyone panicked and started scrambling around.
“Come on, you guys. Let’s go.” Siwon stood up and led the way, Eunhyuk, Donghae, and Hankyung following. I tugged on Leeteuk’s hand.
“Let’s go, Leeteuk-sshi.” We came up behind Siwon, Hankyung, Eunhyuk, and Donghae waiting in the entrance hall. The door opened and in came the king and the queen. We all bowed.
“Where is he? Where’s -” The queen stopped talking the moment she spotted Leeteuk. She squealed and instantly enveloped him in a hug. He seemed surprised before he returned her hug. “Ohh, my baby…my baby…look at him. Look how he’s grown. Aww, I missed you so much. You’re so grown up.” Tears were falling from her eyes either from joy or sorrow. “I have my baby back and now…and now…and now he’s going to be taken from me.” She openly sobbed. Leeteuk patted her back, tried to comfort her.
“You’re not going to lose your boy if he knows what’s good for him. Come here, my son. Let me see you.” Leeteuk slowly pulled away from his mother and stood in front of his father. His father took his chin in his hand and tilted his face up. He frowned before breaking out into a bright big smile. “Look at you, boy. You’ve grown so much, you positively shine. Come on, we need to talk in private.” They walked into the kitchen. “I need you boys too.” We silently followed the two into the kitchen.
Once we were all seated and had some tea, the king looked at all of us. “So what have you guys been planning? In a few days, Leeteuk will be eighteen. Have you guys prepared?” We nodded. He seemed satisfied. “Then I’ll take my leave of you. I must go back and prepare as well. I wish you all well.” We walked him to the door. He looked at all of us one last time. He hugged Leeteuk before leaving. His mother gave him a lingering hug and a kiss on the cheek. She gave each of us a hug and left as well. We looked at each other.
“Come on everyone. We still have a lot of work left to do.” Leeteuk went back into the kitchen.

It was finally the day…my 18th birthday…

“It’s time, sir.”
“Thank you.” I smiled and glanced at the calendar. “Today’s his birthday. I hope he likes my present. Now let’s get going. I don’t want to miss the look on his face when he receives my present.”

“Is everyone ready?” They nodded. “Good. He probably sent them already. He doesn’t like to waste time. Take them out as quickly and quietly as you can. We don’t want him to know about this yet so we have to let them reach their destination first before killing them. Everybody understand?” They nodded. “Good. Now let’s get moving.”
“What will you be doing?”
“Don’t worry about me. I’ve already discussed this with him. We understand each other. Now get moving. We don’t want to waste a single minute.”

“Today’s the day. You ready?”
“As ready as I’ll ever be.” Siwon nodded. I looked at the clock. 2 hours to go…
I heard the doorbell ring. “I’ll get that.” I saw everyone tense. I walked to the door and braced myself before opening it.
“Hello Leeteuk. Happy Birthday! I hope you like my gift.” And I was pulled right out the front door.
A/N: this series will probably end in the next two chapters. sorry for dragging this out so long...the next chapter will probably be a fail attempt at some action/fighting...
