Chapter 21

It’s been 3 months since Jungsu left me. Actually more like 2 months, 3 weeks, 5 days, 25 minutes, and 30 seconds. I’ve been counting. In another 2 weeks, it’ll be his birthday or the day we found him.
It’s been almost 6 years since the day we first found him. I can still remember it like it was yesterday…
I had been walking in the park alone when a friend of mine, I can’t remember his name anymore, called me over to some private clearing. The trees formed a private circle and in the center was a boy. He was so pale and looked so fragile.
“Is he okay?”
“I’m not sure but we can’t leave him here. I can’t take him back to my house. Maybe he can stay with you?”
“I think that’ll be okay. My mom wouldn’t mind I think, especially after seeing him. Come on and help me take him home.”
With the help of my friend, he was placed on my back and I carried him home that way. I placed him down on my bed. He was still sleeping. My mom came in and shooed me away while she did her job.
“How did you find him?”
“I was just wandering through the park and noticed something sticking out between the trees. I got closer and noticed that it was a body. I had no idea what I was going to do with him since he couldn’t stay there but I didn’t have enough muscles to move him. Fortunately I ran into you.” He smiled. “I have to get going now. I can rest easier now, knowing he’s in a good place. I’ll come back tomorrow to check on him. Bye.” He left. I shook my head and went back into my room. My mom was still hovering over him, making sure everything was alright even though he was still sleeping. He slept for 3 full days before finally waking up. Everyday I would just sit in the room, watching him. He looked so peaceful. Occasionally my friend would stay with me.
The day he woke up…he sat up and stared right at me with those beautiful brown eyes. It was right then that I started to fall for him. He looked adorably confused, looking around, not seeming to register anything.
“Hi. Are you okay?” He nodded. “Can you talk?” He seemed to be thinking a moment before saying “Yes.” I didn’t let it show but just hearing his voice…it sounded so beautiful, indescribable to me even if he just said the one word.
“Where…uhh…where am I?”
“Right now, you’re at my house. My name is Kim Youngwoon. What’s yours?”
“Uhh…I’m not sure.” My mom looked at him worriedly.
“Can you remember anything?”
“Uhh…what am I suppose to remember?” My mom smiled.
“Nothing, just rest now, sweetie. I’ll make you some food.” I followed my mother out to the kitchen. “We’re keeping him here until he gets better.”
We decided to call him Park Jungsu. He was just like a little baby. During that time, my mother took care of him like he was her own son. He had to relearn so many things it seemed like. I spent so much time with him; we did everything together. I don’t know when he became a part of my heart but he did.
Life isn’t the same without him there. I never noticed how boring life was. He made everything better with just his smile. I miss him so much
I was just walking alone in the park, not paying attention to anything, and accidentally bumped into someone.
“Oh I’m sorry I-Kibum?”
“Youngwoon?” He smiled. “Long time no see. Wow, you’ve gotten bigger. I bet you’re stronger too. Probably so strong people call you Kangin.” He chuckled to himself. “How’ve you been?”
“Uhh…”
“Is something wrong?”
“Uhh…yeah…”
“Want to talk about it?”
“Uhh…”
“It’ll make you feel better.” He looked at me with big puppy eyes.
“Okay.” The two of us grabbed a couple of coffees and somehow made our way to the private clearing where we first found Jungsu. We sat down on the ground.
“So what’s bugging you?”
“Remember the guy we found in this clearing like 6 years ago?”
“Yeah. Is he still around?”
“That’s the thing. About 3 months ago, he decided to leave us. I don’t know why. He left a note saying this was for my own good and not to look for him. But it’s hard. I miss him a lot. It’s not the same without him there. I’ve been living with him for so long, so used to having him there. These past 3 months have been hell without him.”
“You love him, don’t you?”
“Well yeah. Oh, I guess I forgot to mention that we had started dating. I finally got the courage to confess, right here to be exact, but he breaks it off a few weeks later. I thought he loved me like I love him but it was probably all a lie. I remember he was hanging out with this new student a lot before he decided to leave. I’ve tried asking him if he knows where Jungsu is but he keeps denying it.”
“Who’s the guy?”
“Choi Siwon. He’s some new student. I see him hanging out with Ryeowook and this other new student Hankyung.” Kibum seemed to be pondering something.
“Would you like to see Jungsu again?”
“Yes. I miss him. I think about him every day. I can’t function normally without him.”
“I can take him to you. I know where he is.”
“You do? Please…please…I’m begging you.” He chuckled.
“The great Youngwoon is begging? I never thought I would see this. You really have changed.” I glared at him. He just laughed. “Come with me.”
