I'm pretty sure I argued them into agreeing that breast milk was ok up until 2 hours before the surgery. (Necessary, since my munchkin nursed pretty much constantly ... though she might be weaning!)
Somehow, I missed the news that he was supposed to have surgery. That's stressful enough, without their adding to it by screwing stuff up.
In any event, I hope everything goes well. Our daughter almost ended up having that surgery, but fortunately her tubes matured and she stopped getting all the ear infections just in time.
Even when they give you that time the day before? Unless E is the first case of the day, the time is a guideline. ENT surgeries tend to go pretty fast though.
Do you know if Children's allows one of you to go back to the OR until he's asleep? I have tips for this if you're going to do so. [I'm a fan of a little oral versed (like valium) about ten minutes before wee one goes back, but hardly any places do that. Only one of the many places where I've worked did. A lot of anesthesiologists just don't do it, so one parent going back tends to be standard.]
One parent going back is what GBMC did. I took her back, and stayed with her until she was out. They *did* make it clear that if the parent was overly emotional or if the parent-child interaction wasn't working, they'd kick out the parent. :)
