The only kind of martini I've had was vodka-based and it was awful. Someday I'll try again with alternative ingredients.

Actually, alcohol is a common solvent in labs so I've spent a lot of time talking to fellow scientists about it. Plus, I watch a lot of food anthropology stuff on tv.
