Looks like I made the cut

Today is day four after my back surgery. They had me up and walking 8 hours afterwards.... amazing. The anesthesia wore off and I was doing OK until day three. Yesterday was bad - and mentally discouraging. Today, I’ve spent time trying to rationalize that it was just a bad day and not a bad procedure ( Read more... )

You'll need a minimum of two weeks of miserableness before you start feeling better. Then you'll find out that there is no more pain. The procedure is invasive, for sure, and the incision site will ache for a while, About 4 weeks after my surgery, the incision area was basically back to normal. These days it's as if nothing had been done back there. The back never felt better. I'm just slow to heal from the aftereffects of other failed treatments as well as the spinal cord damage done by a herniated disk, but even that has begun a noticeable change for the better. Now, about that knee... lol

Give it time, my friend, you'll be your old self (minus the sciatic nerve hell) in no time.

I'm glad that you are able to look back on yours from such a good perspective. You deserve that after what you went through.
Thank you for sharing it all - I've thought of you and your ordeal often as a way to 'get through' mine.
Hugs.

Give your body (and mind) time to heal from the trauma. What you've gone through (though commonplace in this day and age) is far from a 'normal' experience.

*HEALING HUGS*

Thanks for the *Healing Hugs* - You truly are such a wonderful person in all that you do and all that you are.
...and you are right, commonplace, but far from normal.

Hugs to you.

You're smart enough -- as you've already said -- give yourself time to integrate the new levels of...well...*everything* that the surgery "means" for ya... [[snuggs gently]]

It's a process, right, no "instant on - instant off" switch, right? ;o) Giving your bodymind time to remember what it is to move with the various levels of sensation and flexibility again will take time...and work... :o)

I'm so glad you're here... [[snuggs]] :o)

Heh... working on that process... I have observed through this how easy it is to expect the "instant on - instant off" from everything. I sometimes find myself irritated because some people aren't willing to put in the time necessary on the process to achieve the goal.

Time to practice what I preach... you're right.
Thank you and hugs and snuggs to you.
