Mate, the only murders which are having nowt done about them are the ones done by your fucking inmate.

I'm not saying this because it's saving me a job, because I don't think my guy's gonna go doing a shit ton of murders. I'm saying this because I've been an inmate and in a fucking prison - and if people can find a fucking excuse, they'll fucking do shit. People do stuff because they think they can fucking get away with it - and if they think it's unfair and people are being treated differently, they'll take it out on your fucking inmate. Because they don't give a shit about your reasons and your bloody strategy. They give a shit about what they reckon they can get away with.

I know. And if it comes down to that, I'll handle it. But it hasn't, and all this is now is my inmate testing me. I'm not ruining months of gaining his trust on the off chance some other inmates will be pissed off.

I'm not saying the killing'd be your fault. I'm saying the inevitable 'oh, but I got permission' and 'oh, but I have an addiction to being a bastard' and 'why do you let Tim let Sylar do that if I can't?' which will follow will be your fault.

So, inadvertently, when we have to punish our inmates for doing shit wrong - we have to defend you and yours. And I just can't do that.

That's bull. Some people will take any excuse that pops up - any excuse. Sylar saying what he did won't make them any more or less likely to do anything, they'll just have an extra excuse to pull from. I'm not asking you to defend me.

Baby isn't Sylar. He's gone through like six wardens who've tried doing just that. Obviously, that's not something that's going to work with him.
